Hi I was wondering how long and at what size do robertsoni begin to color up? I know they are slow growers. There isn't much info about them on the web any info from people with experience would be appreciated

The largest one in the pic below is about 3", I would expect real colors at about 5" and intensifying thereafter.
Mine is about 2 in now and in the right light I see blue speckles thank you for the insighy

I've got 3 I've had for a few months, about 3 inch for the bigger ones got some blue but not colorful...

Probably around 3". They get much better with age. I've had my female for almost 8 years now. They typically max out at 8" in size, but I was shocked when I measured mine out of water at 10" TL. They won't eat floating foods so sinking pellets are needed. Also they are very peaceful cichlids. Even oscars might be too aggressive for them. This is by far one of my favorite fish I have owned. Also a sand substrait is best as they are earth eaters.

He's in a peaceful tank I had to get rid of a firemouth that was picking on him. I do feed him sinking food since I got rid of the firemouth the robertsoni seems happier and less schidish
