Due to some changes in how my life is to play out in the next few years it's looking less and less possible that I'll be able to keep my Mbu. I suppose it happens to a lot of people but I'd planned accommodations from the day I purchased the little guy and I'm downtrodden to say the least at the prospect of his absence. Still, I need to consider the possibility of selling him. I'm sure aquabid would be the best option. How much do you think a 14" Mbu should go for?

I don't like to see monster fish being sold on Aquabid. What if the guy that wins him plans on putting him in a 100g tank?

How does Aquabid work then?

Don't sell him on Aquabid, sell him here, in the classified ads. Then you could also see occasional update pics of him. He might even win POTM if you sell him to the right person.

If you sell him on here then at least you know he's going to a good home:(

Maybe in the $150 - $200 range I would say. It's kind of hard to say what someone would be willing to pay for it untill you try. Sorry for your impending loss. I'm sure he's woth a lot more to you. :(

Mbus are going for 150-250 at around 3-4". I feel like 14" would go for a bit more than that. The last mention a saw of a large Mbu being sold had the price tag in the thousands. I thought that was ludicrously overpriced but I have no clue what a real asking price would be.

Possibly ... but then few people are equipped to handle a fish that large for life so that has a bearing on the price as well. If your main concern is the well bieng of the fish then you might be forced to trade price for the peace of mind of knowing he/she's in a good home.
