Today at petco, I saw a savannah monitor that was about 8" for sale, it was so cute, only 50 bucks. I would have love to gotten it, but my mom would not allow it. Don't worry, I know how big they grow.

I got my little sav when he was maybe 8", he desperately wanted to eat me until he hit about 18", then he mellowed right out. Not out of aggression at all, he just had a VERY aggressive feeding instinct. He came from petco, for $20 (they were having a sale).
I can get get baby savannah monitors for $15 at every local reptile show all day long. Unless they can prove it is captive bred, which barely any are because tens of thousands are imported each year into the wholesale market. Basically they are imported, sold to a distributor, and then resold to places like Petco.
