Petsmart here carries baby senegal bichirs 2 -3 inches. After getting the 75 for my africans i could help but want polys in my 46. Senegals are my favorite, so active. I bought 2 last week and they just got more in and went to go pick up a third. of the 4 they had 1 had stripes on it, so i got it. Instead of the brownish color of my other 2 he is almost grey/blue. Do baby senegals have stripes? If not what is it lol?

Nice bichirs! The stripes on the juvenile P. Senegalus determines the species, There is a subspecies of senegalus called Polypterus senegalus meridionalus, they have vertical stipes when juveniles. I have seen, and have, both. But the senegalus meridionalus is not a proven subsoecies. Good luck with the little guy!
