I took my mother in law out to lunch for her birthday and in their 100+g aquarium they had 2 silvers both about 15" each. But what was really sad was seeing one of them beating up on the other; just chomping away at its fins. The poor aro was huddled down at the bottom of the tank and as it lied there the giant gourami would nip on it and if it moved to another part of the tank the other aro would bite it.

So I offered to house it til they could figure out what to do and left the restaurant manager my number. He called me later on this evening to pick it up. I don't know when they want it back exactly but here it is in my 120 g with my ray.:D

I'd really like to keep the poor guy, but hey, even if I don't get to keep it, at least it's not in that torture chamber. (I just dosed it with some melafix).

Here it is: (Sorry about the poor pic quality)

If you look closely it's eye got messed up from jumping when it got netted in the restaurant aquarium.

Here's a closer look at it's eye:

Observe below the frayed fins:

It jumped out of the net in the restaurant and it also jumped out of the box when I was transferring it into my tank.

Besides the horrible past 24hours this aro has suffered, this poor guy is now in a safer home. He is swimming quite elegantly in my tank, especially since he isn't being bullied. Man, I wish I could keep him:(

even i have noticed aros do what u mentioned above, when one aro bullies the other, they usually end up at the bottom of the tank motionless.

arent silvers dorsal and anal fins supposed to be a little frayed? the pelvic fins are pretty bad

good thing you saved it

Yeah there is supposed to be some fringe-like appearance on a healthy silver's dorsal fins, but if you look closely on these pics there is missing finnage between the spines of the dorsal fin.

But yeah, those pelvic fins are pretty shredded.

Nice

commendable actions.

Nice save Alden:thumbsup: What restaurant was this at?
