Some time ago I found this article on ScotCat: https://www.scotcat.com/articles/article109.htm

I was experiencing most of it, but this part in particular:
However, I always noticed that, although immediately after a meal it looked as though it had swallowed a plum, a few hours later its stomach was quite flat again. It didn’t seem to put on any actual body weight, only length, and I began to suspect something seriously amiss.

with some of my pictus catfish. These fish were purchased on November 26, 2021, but did not show any signs until December-March.

The signs when they did come, though, were frightening. Not just getting merely without putting on weight, but entire bellyfulls of food that stretched their tummies to twice the size of their heads flat within hours, just like the article.

During the initial December-March period, I suspected nothing amiss as parasites went. I figured that these young fish had a fast metabolism and that my considered-infrequent-by-some feedings weren't enough at that size.
But these made no changes in the condition of the fish, and certainly not in the speed of giant meals disappearing unusually fast.

Searching for medication proved difficult, as levamisole, praziquantel, Sterazin, etc were banned. But after quite a while of desperate hunting, I eventually happened upon the wonderful product of Absolute Wormer+ made with flubendazone.
This also had the advantage of killing parasites outright instead of merely paralyzing them and potentially having the owner miss vacuuming them out. One dosage for less than 48 hours did all the work it had to, and I was especially happy after contrasting my story to Daphne Layley's.

Now, when these fish manage to eat enough to balloon their tummies to twice the size of their heads (despite my best efforts to prevent it!), it remains 24 hours later, digested to about 40% of its original size but still very present.

Try Absolute Wormer+ if you find yourself in this scenario!
