The Moon
Ok, SO this story starts off with both sides of amesbien. Myself (kevin) and Justin were over my house, fooling around with my new 55 gal with my 6" senegal and a 5" clown loach. The fish had been in the tank for about 3 weeks and they both have been doing great, seeing as they have SO much room to swim in. As we gazed into the tank like normal, we couldn't find the CL. After that, I remembered that I havent seen the CL for the past week. (just thought he was hiding somewhere). We then proceded to uproot every plant and piece of drift wood in the tank. No clown loach. Puzzled, we both looked at the one plastic/ceramic ornament in the tank. It was a long cool looking piece of grey drift wood. It had 2 tiny little holes in the back of it. I took the ornament and shook it in the water to try to get the little guy out. No luck, I think it only succeded in scaring him more. We knew he had to be in there because there was no where else he could be in the tank, so I decided that we had to get him out somehow, because I dont want a fish i will NEVER see. I had got the ornament for free, cause i work at a pet store, so we decided to smash it. We took it out back, grabed a hammer, and Whack! But to our suprise, no clown loach...then we kept smashing the little peices into smaller pieces. No CL. Then, after about a minute,i look at my feet, and see a little orange thing chillin. I said "OMG here he is!" justin grabed him and flew up the stairs and tossed him in the tank. I went upstair to see the CL stuned still just sitting on his side. After a minute, he started swimming again. He is still with us today, living under his purple slate like normal. But ever time i come near the tank, he swims out for a minute, just to show me that he isnt hiding, because he doesnt wanna face the hammer again! haha.

just wanted to share that with you guys lol.

Rallysman has a loach thats about 6-8", and we put him in his bare bottom 300, with only a couple of fish. He still found a place to hide.

Wow:WHOA: :WHOA: thats crazy i dont think i would have done what you did though with the hammer. I have a short story to add myself. I bought 4 clown loaches and when I got home I put the bag in the tank for a while to get them aclimated. As I waited i thought maybe I should put 2 in my 75 and 2 in my 220. So I throw 2 in the 220 and when I put the first of the other 2 in my 75 my dat goes after him immediately after going in. i saw my dat just swallow the poor loach and all i saw was the tail:irked: . Well about week goes bye and its time for a water change and i decide to rearrange my 75, well right under a piece of driftwood jets out the freakin clown loach:WHOA: same dat tries to get him again and i hurry, get my net and saved the little guy guess we have some lucky loaches:D

I had the same experience with my dats and loaches well these loaches were before I got my larger ones. Anyway I kept some 2.5-3" loaches in a 30 gal; one day I decided that I wanted to take one of the drift wood pieces in the 30 and put it in my 100 where I kept my larger fish which also housed my dats at the time they were like 7" or so; anyway I grabbed the piece of drift wood and gave it a good shaking while in the water to make sure there was nothing in it; nothing fell out or came out of it so I thought cool. So I go ahead and put the piece of wood in the 100; well right when it touches the bottom of the tank out comes one of the loaches; well as you guys may have guessed my dats immediately gave chase and one of the dats swallowed that loach. I was like dang that really sucks. I waited a bit to see if the dat would choke becasue of the loaches barbs well in about a minute or so the loach just swims right out of the dats mouth. I was like WOW these guys can infact hold their own; After that incident the dat never tired to eat any of the loaches again.
