so i went kayak fishin today and while i was makin bait i noticed a small school of smelt leap in unnison, tell tale signs of a stalker...... so i paddle over and drop a bait right where i thought it would be and WHAM! fish on! within second sof the hook up im already half way down my spool of 3lb test and still no signs of the fish turning, so i stick the rod in the holder and paddle after my quarry. once im over top of him im able to gain some line and i get the fish to color..... OMG...... HALIBUT! so now i have to tyake pressure off to prevent the hook from being thrown at the surface(Cali anglers know what i mean, and what its like to land a big ol butt) after a few attepts i manage to get the boga in his lips and sling him (gently mind you) into my lap. i paddle to shore and get a kind beach oer to photoraph me and the fish and i get the measurements...........
