well obviously not since i posted it here :nilly:

but she's missing her nares (visible part of the paired nostrils) so the illusion is there LOL anyway first three pics is her. she turns out to be my biggest one, which is very surprising to me actually.

i have another one with a pair of crazy flared nares, no pics of him though. otherwise the juxtaposition would be cool.

and the next 5 pics are of another one that loves to hang out in that hole in the driftwood. in the pics are also a 'sp. Dabola' and a Nigerian lapradei.

and last but not least, the last pic of one in the other tank.

NICCEE Tank!!!
How long does it take to grow that Big?
thanks chuckieyang!

after their initial juvenile growth spurt, their growth is generally quite slow. The reason i said i'm surprised about my biggest one is because for a long time, she was the smallest one, and hasn't been growing much for a long time. And then all of a sudden, she hits another growth spurt and starts to put on size very fast, and now is the biggest.

thanks is300zx!

the middle one (that loves the hole) i have it for about 4 years if i'm not mistaken.

the other two in the pics, i think i have them for at least 6 years, if not slightly longer.

Is that a weeksii? How did it get so dark? thats hella cool

thanks bichirs4life!

yes it is. i honestly don't know. heres another dark one (he's the one with the flared nostrils), obviously the pic sucks, thats why i didn't post it before. i actually was looking for the brown ones, but one after one, they turn dark, except for the one in the last pic in my original post.

EDIT: actually i think this one below came in pretty dark when i got it. can't quite remember. but the one above that likes the hole wasn't this dark to begin with.

thanks cohazard! no special secret. i think its because of the lights. i use 6700K, which mimics natural sunlight (at least near water surface, as opposed to the higher Kelvin deeper in the ocean), and i think that's also in the range of Kelvin temperature that aquarium plants prefer.

anyway i'm not really using it for plants, i just like its color and how the aquarium looks when using it, as opposed to the 10000K that people seem to prefer for freshwater non-planted tanks, which is too white for my liking. I guess it all works out in the end :D

she looks very cool w/o the nares :D
