Tulane's accounts receivable office really doesn't do a good job. For example, I got two bills totalling just over $60,000 for the seven-week makeup semester over the summer (for those of you who don't know, Tulane is in New Orleans and had to close last fall).

Now I need to register for one more class to get enough credits because the only section I could have taken of German was cancelled. So I went to the site today to add a class and it said my registration has been blocked by accounts receivable.

So I go to the accounts receivable site to find out why my registration has been blocked. It's because I haven't paid the $23,000 bill they sent me two weeks ago for the upcoming semester. I just got my financial aid award last week and besides, that stuff isn't even disbursed until the first day of classes.

WTF

:irked:

My wife just graduated from Tulane this summer. She was in the five year architecture program, and she doesn't think that anyone besides teachers at Tulane does a good job. It's a horribly run school. I get the impression that all they care about is getting money to line Mr. Cowen's already fat pockets.

Good luck w/ the lagniappe bills though. Are you by any chance a native New Orleanian?

No I'm not native...I'm from SC.

And I'm in architecture too! Starting my second year in a couple of weeks. I got my lagniappe bills straightened out a couple of months ago, but there was a time when it was scaring the crap out of me and I didn't know what I was going to do.

Your wife's probably right about its being horribly run, although they somehow managed to pull through after what happened last year so I guess they're doing something right. The teachers are great; I love my architecture professors and I think it's just a great environment to be in....now if the school's administration would just stop taking after Louisiana's government...

Maybe that FEMA guy that was patted on the back by the president is now running A/R at Tulane.

Excellent! The school of architecture is quite good. My wife found a good job within a month of graduating. I wish you luck. Also, the preservation course is excellent, and the profs are the coolest.

man I love Tulane's architecture school. I could have gone to Clemson (also a great arch school) a lot more easily and cheaply and been about 45 minutes from home, but something about Tulane and New Orleans appealed to me. Probably it's that Nine Inch Nails was based there at the time that I applied.

But yeah. TSA is definitely the place to be for arch students these days, even if it's not the best arch school in the country.

Where'd your wife get a job? And what was her platform project? I might remember it...
