So I'm cleaning my tanks today and while I was in the kitchen cleaning the intake for one of my filters I remembered I was filling a tank up and it should be about full, I run into the family room and just as I got in there water started pouring over the sides. Luckily I have hardwood floors so cleanup wasnt that bad but my surge protectors are soaked, has anyone had experience drying these? I took them apart to dry them, does anyone know how long I should wait before using them again?

OMG I must be drunk or something, today is not my day. So when I overfilled the first time I disconnected the hose from my python to siphon out some water, then I took too much out and had to put more in. Well, after I put more in I took the python out of the tank and as I did that I was thinking like I had just taken water out and I opened the valve to let the python drain(but it was still hooked up to the hose) and water sprayed everywhere! AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Now there is water everywhere including dripping from the ceiling. I have city water too, so the pressure is really high.

not meaning to laugh but.... that sounds like something that would happen to me!!! Ive also gotten water all inside my surge proctectors - waited a couple days and mine were fine. As far as the thing with the python - Ive done that twice already

LOL....I have had the same problems! I over filled my 55 Friday night...I was talking with some friends, and all of a sudden I hear water splashing...on my carpet...lol...At least its in the basement...lol....Just throw down some towels, and then turn on the fan...lol...

Jen ;)

Let them air out a couple days and they should be fine. That is if they are apart. My floor is collapsing in my room. If that makes you feel any better.

anything electical that gets wet dont use it while its stillwet and it will be fine when it gets dry.and  we all flood ourselves once in a while

How many tanks where you tending? I "normally" do that when I am trying to do too many things or tanks at once. Only one time did I hate doing it and it was in the family room. That was a mess. Carpet and all. Thank God for the Shop Vac, a couple of hours vacuuming and then dry vacuum to get rid of the wet spots. Smelled like mold and mildew for a couple of weeks. I moved everything in the garage. Now when it overflows, it just goes on the garage floor. But really, should pay more attention to it, unless you are talking to your hottie neighbor.
