You could possibly use it for a reptile, arachnid or insect of some kind. I wouldn't use it in a fish tank tho, it would break apart so quickly it wouldn't be worth it. You'd get a few months if that before it would start falling apart and breaking down into a pile of woody pulp. Anything terrestrial tho it should work fine as long as it's been boiled and treated. Any idea what kind of wood it is? If it's any kind of pine, fir or birch tree I wouldn't use it as they produce allot of toxic substances as a self defense measure against pests.
I personally have a something very similar to that piece of wood in one of my aquariums. It is Oak which is intact 4 yrs ago since putting it in my aquarium.
