Hello Knifefish keepers.:) Have a few decisions I want to clear up with some knifefish keepers.

I think I did the title right. ABK=African brown knifefish, BGK=black ghost knifefish in case I did it wrong.

I have a 125 which is cycling and getting ready for some fish. it will be an oddball tank really, so of course I am interested in these knifefish.:D

It will be kept with a single silver aro, a small one like 3 inches tops and this will be it's growout. Also it will be kept with 5-6 senegal bichir, also small to begin with. So which in everyones opinion will do best with these fish and the tank size(19 inches I think wide).

It has to get at least like 8 inches or will become prey when the Aro gets close to the 20 inch mark, plus don't want the bichirs to be nipping at it. The tank is 19 inch wide so it can't get too much bigger than that. So which do you all think would work in these circumstances?

BGK will be the best for that tank. ABK's can grow 30" hehe. Also, you say growout but the silver is going to be 20" before you move it?

Was rounding about the silver.:D But around 15 in, I'll start getting the bigger tank and all. Damn 30 in, I thought they were the smaller ones, lol.

No, they most certainly do not. African Brown Knifefish stay under 10".

BGK just coz they are so gorgeous lol....i love mine...although he very rarely swims the right way up lol

Lol, nice, A think a nice BGK will look great with a silver aro. He'll stand out nicely.

Do they do better in pairs or anything. Should I get two for my 125. If not cool, JW.

Ok, im only 14 and dont have that much knowlege of fish but i think BGK are EXTREMLY territorial of its own species so i would go with only one but someone will probably correct me :) i have only had one it only survived like 6 months

wouldn't the BGK be food?:/

i mean since they grow really slow, and the silver grows pretty quick... there is a possibility that he may try to eat the bgk=/
