About Captive Bred Endi's

I have a 125 gallon right now I'm probably going to get a 200 + one soon but wondering if some of you CAPTIVE BRED endi owners could post the sizes of your Endi's and Alain if wanted post pictures. I know it varies but I just want to hear potential sizes

I'm not sure how to determine if this one will be a shortbodied or not any experienced owners?

Not a short body ... Regular cb .... Most cbs won't get past 18" .... (Most) not all some will get bigger

Why don't they reach the wild sizes? Is it the ones that were bred simply lacking the genetics for it?

My largest CB endli at the moment is 18"-19"s but looks bigger because it's super thick/fat.

I only have two MONSTER CB endlis currently.... my big boy Bubba which I think is still growing and a semi short body I bought several years ago..... currently at 16"s.

My other endlis are either platinum endlis or short body endlis.

It's true.... IN GENERAL, CB endlis tend to grow at smaller max size compared to wild caught..... maybe it is genetics...... although I have owned cb endlis that have grown fast & large.... depends on the individual specimen I suppose......

I am getting three small endlis this week..... so we'll see......

From what I hear it's basically science, theirs more genetic variation in the wild. But with farming captive breds they use hormones and it's like a big orgy. Good example think of people if you have a kid with somebody in your family the genes make you deformed. With bichirs they can have deformity, one of the deformities being that they don't grow to full size

Another deformity I had was my endli was a upper jaw.... It was more upper jaw than actual upper jaw polys .... Cb endli u get at lfs stores r usually inbred ... May not of been inbred from the parents but it's parents or grandparents prob were there for poor genes get passed down .... Same with sens and dels an b4 long cb laps will be the same way
