Please whatever advice you guys can offer would be much appreciated; well I set up a 10 gallon planted tank (no fish for now), and I have the bare essentials for it( sand, the plants, filter, heater, and light), so am I missing anything to have healthy plants? What temperature should I have set up? What light is good to have for the plants? Finally, I heard about these "Co2 diffusers" which are apparently very helpful in growing plants... so how can I make one cheaply myself? What do I need and if necessary to that, how does this contraption work?

Thanks everybody I know this a lot of questions (I'm something of a "noob" when it comes to planted tanks:() so sorry about that:) , and once again I really, really appreciate any input you give!:D

I have just finished doing the exact same thing. With co2, i have two 2litre coke bottles which i have plumbed with airline tubing throung the coke lid(Must silicone the lid to eliminate leak) into a glass jar half filled with water(two tubes from coke bottles go into the water), then i have another line going from the jar through a one way valve into an airstone in my tank. Above the airstone i have a 300ml inverted container which catches the bubbles. In the container i also have a spare sponge from a filter.

What this does is it increases the pressure between the co2 and water which i believe increases the transfer.

Some say these are not very effective however i have at least 600-800ml of co2 being absorbed into my water every day.

I also have cherry shrimp in the tank which look great.

Hope i was helpfull.
