Okay, I was given a 46 gal tank by a friend of mine. Im just learning about the hobby and trying to educate myself as best I can.

This is what she had in her tank that I have now inherited.

8 Kribs
3 Clown Loaches
3 Aldolphi Cory's
1 Large Golden Angel
1 Ghost Knife
1 Hatchet
1 Glass Cat
1 Farlowella (who is going to a new home shortly!)

I know the hatchet and glass are schooling fish i am looking to find them a new home in someone elses tank where they can be with buddies

Anyway, my question is this. I've had the tank nearly 2 weeks now and the Kribs have been fairly docile for the most part and seem to school together however over the past few days I have noted that they are becoming much more agressive towards each other.
I woke this morning to find one stuck between a rock and the driftwood dead (he was wedged in there pretty good) I am thinking maybe his tankmates killed him?

Im sitting here as we speak and theres a huge show down going on. They look beautiful all dark and colourful - its quite the display. 5 of the reamining 7 are very dark and colourful for the most part while there are 2 others that stay quite pale and timid. Im not sure if they are sickly or maybe females.

Pardon my ignorance but as I say Im just getting into the hobby and anyone thats had any experience could shed some light on this would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

any idea the age the kribs are? if you have too many males this is a big problem. they go very well in pairs and if it was me i would only try and keep 2 pair so they could each have one end of the tank.when they are young it can be a bit hard to tell who is who. if you dont know the difference between male + female, males=larger and more stream line in shape and get black dots on their fins when mature. females are 'rounder' in the stomach (which can turn the most amazing red colour when ready to do the baby thing...) and alot smaller than the males. your kribs that are pale are most likely being bullied and will be trying to hide alot. if you can seperate them, definatly do it or you may loose them. the remaining ones will fight (if you only keep 2 pair) but it shouldnt be too bad. they are great fish... but little monsters! mine breed heaps so watch out for that too....:D

thanks - yeah i dont know why my friend kept so many - i dont really want them to breed cause they were from a spawn she had some time ago.
She actually had 18 of them in there! but 10 bit it when she did a tank transfer - i dont think she realy knew what she was doing. haha Cause from what i have read I agree you shouldnt have more then 2 in a tank this size.
Ill look at trading them in or see if anyone local wants to buy them
thanks for the info!

see if you can get some fast moving tetras and danios, mine seem to do well. they can stand up to the bulling or get out of the way real quick when they need to! my kribs have only ever produced boys for some weird reason, even when the babies were very tiny they tried to fight my 33cm pleco (very funny to watch !!) enjoy ya monsters:D:D:D
