I have an RO unit that has not been used in about a year and a half. It has been used to make about 50 gallons total in it's life. Since it has been sitting so long is it necessary to change out the membrane? Or would it be sufficient to just swap the micron and carbon filters out?

Thanks pals.

You will most likely have to change the membrane as it will be either dry or moldy. The micron and carbon filter won't go bad I'd just rinse those it's the RO membrane that is most sensitive. I'd try and run the unit first, check the tds or GH and KH of the tap water and the out put water. If the membrane stayed wet the whole time without growing mold you might have gotten lucky.
