So, is the ban of snakeheads for the entire US or does it vary from state to state? Also, could you get some sort of federal document saying that you could import a snakehead as long as you dont release it and report when you receive it and when it dies, and if you breed it how many you keep, how many you cull, etc?

Just wondering because it seems odd to restrict a fish that lives in warm waters from states that have colder weather that a snakehead couldnt live through.

BSIXX except where?

Snakeheads are banned from the US, with the exception of dwarfs that already were in, and remain in, Maryland, it seems.

Dwarf, yes, we don't like it any better than you do, but there's no way around the law. Silly as it may seem... hopefully things will change in the future, however that rarely happens.

Trust me - we've all been there! I used to keep the red snakehead when they were legal, 15 ish years ago. Miss them!

and not only dwarfs but the obscuras are legal there also, aka northern snakehead

I actually don't think the obscura is legal - I think it's just naturalized there.
