about this one

hi all,
I've seen alot of types of birchirs in this forum, but I've never seen this one,
please help ID this bichir; it has a wider fins than the common senegalus;
this one is about 5", I have no problem feeding this one, cause, it feeds on sinking pellets



the second one is about 12": I just got this one 2 days ago, and it hasn't been eating the sinking pellets I put in the tank, looks like a common senegalus, but I am not sure; pls help me with ID; wot should I feed this one?cause I prefers my bichirs to eat sinking pellets only;sorry for the terrible images,
was trying to get a better picts,

It's a long fin senegal bichir! Love it! Rarely see one that perfect! I keep seeing longfins sene with plenty of deformed fins.

thanks for the info,
another questions, my ornate wont eat sinking pellets I put in the tank,
will the ornate eat them anyway?
I try to train the ornate to eat sinking pellets only, and I rather not giving anything else in the tank, but, could this still work for the ornate?I currently separate the ornate into a different tank;
one of the senegal birchir in the tank, the 12" one, dont seems to like the pellets,
would he still eat them? I feed them twice a day, and I only give them sinking pellets,
the rest of the bichirs seems to have no problem with the pellets at all, but only the ornate and the giant senegal refuse it, so what do you guys think?

Keep offering only the pellets if that's what you want them to eat. They will learn to eat them eventually.

how about the albino one?how long will it grows?
will it the same rate as the common senegal?

Sorry but, your water seems to be very green it needs a cleaning and/or filtration boost

Good question with a complicated answer.

There is genetic diversity in any given population, and it seems to be amplified in farm bred fish.

In these fish, I have seen them maxing out at 5" to 10" for albinos, and 8 to 10" for long fins.

Common senegals are the same, some will stay smaller and others can grow to be true beasts, as far as genetic potential.

Genes are not the only factor though, so too are clean water, nutritionally complete diets, ample swimming space, etc...
