my dat is on the verge of death now. i just did a water change and now he cant control his swimming very well and he is swimming straight up as well holding his mouth out of the water...none of my other fish are affected in any way. what the #$#$ could this be? i dont get it
cant get pics but temp is 84 ph is 7 and i just did two 40 percent water changes today however i do not have an ammonia or nitrate test kit...i tested yesterday with a strip and nitrites were 0 but nitrates were present not sure what level (i know thats bad but i didnt have the box to compare the colors on the strip with), so i did a water change this morning put pima and melafix in and then did another water change tonight when he wasnt getting better but now this is the third fish i have had die like this which is why i am getting nervous its a parasite, however my other fish are perfectly fine and look healthier than ever
Your temp is likely be too high, especially if you don't have very good aeration/water turnover. There's much less dissolved oxygen in warmer water-- you dat is acting like it is suffocating, which could very well have been what happened to your other fish. unless you're treating for ICH or you have discus, there's really no reason your water temperature should too far over 80 degrees long term.
i know i need another tank but as far as the air...i do a bubble wall on the side of the tank where the dat was separated, i run an eheim 2217, 2213, and penguin 200 and i have a koralia 3 model. so maybe it is the temp or do you think i need more filtration and the tank is actually 100g i made a typo sorry bout that.
also i dont know if you read my other posts but this whole ordeal started this morning when i noticed what looked like fin rot on his tail then i saw a grey filmy substance which i think is fungus on his forehead
