Mine is now around 20" long and is still very excitable. It is especially so at feeding time, where it lunges when I drop the food in... I have to drop the food and close the lid immediately to keep it from jumping out. It is a large aquarium 10' x 3' x 3' and the stand is quite tall, so I use a step ladder for feeding.
The arowana's main companion is a red-tail giant gourami which is currently around 14" long. They get along quite well, although the arowana does follow the gourami around sometimes making it a bit paranoid, but no aggression observed.
There are also a number of silver dollars: 4 red-hook lunas, 3 emperor red hook (thin-bar), and 8 emperor blue-hook (wide-bar) that are all starting to get a good size, largest are 8" or so. They are very active and aggressive eaters, I wonder if they cause the arowana to stay more active.
Other fish include a flag-tail, pinktail chalceus, geos, clown loaches, rose-lines, bala sharks, nicaraguense. I would consider most of these to be mid-sized, so not fully grown.
