So currently i have a pair of hystrix male is 6" and female is over 7" in a 60"x32"x18.5" tank. im really looking to expand my ownership of rays. Im looking to pick up 1 leo, possibly 2. also perhaps a marble. Id be looking to breed the hystrix as well as the leos (obviously in the future) So my question is on the tank. Im looking at the height of 20"-24", but the length and width are stumping me. Do i go 6'x3', 7'x3' or 6'x4' or 7'x4' the space i have wont allow for an 8' tank. please let me know your guys thoughts. thanks.

like most people on here say "go monster or go home"
7 x 4ft floor space the will love you for it.

Guess I'm the only one that took the small 6x3.

The way I see it is 4 rays won't need a 7x4, it'll be very empty. 6x3 I think is more reasonable, however I can see the logic of wanting it 4' deep, so maybe I should of voted 6x4

the more room on the bottom, the better..7x4 is the largest footprint you are considering, i'd go with that as a minimum..you screen name is someone i remember keeping frontosa, are you that same person>? welcome to the ray addiction!

i say the 4 wide because you are looking to have 4 possibly 5 rays in there and looking to breed so it will not look empty and the rays will grow to a large size 3 wide would be ok for now but you would regret it.
if you have the money and the space go as big as you can.

are u saying this as the leos sheer size will fill it up to much? or are they very active for a ray and need the turning space?

A Leo can easily get to 18" across, which would make it approaching 36" or so in length. IMO even 7x4 is too small for a Leo that big.
