HEALTH QUESTION
& ANSWER SESSION

Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is
this true?

A: Your
heart is only good for so many beats, and that's it... don't waste
them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your
heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can
extend the life of your car by
driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should
I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You
must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and
corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more
than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system.
Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass
(green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your
recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from
fruit. Brandy is
distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so
you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also
made out of grain. Bottoms
up!

Q: How
can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well,
if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If
you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of
participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can't
think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! ...
Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're
permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from
getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely
not! When
you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger!!!!!!. You
should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are
you crazy? HELLO
Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food
around!

Q: Is
swimming good for your figure?

A: If
swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is
getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey!
'Round' is a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had
about food and diets.

And remember: "Life
should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving
safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other -
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO
HOO, What a Ride"

Here's something to reach that goal. Really!

36 WISE WAYS TO REDUCE STRESS

A wise one says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."

1. Commune with something greater than you.

2. Go to bed on time.

3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.

4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule or that will compromise your mental health.

5. Delegate tasks to capable others.

6. Simplify and unclutter your life.

7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)

8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.

9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.

10. Take one day at a time.

11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what the wisdom in universe would have you do and let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.

12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.

13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.

14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.

15. Do something for the "Kid in You" everyday.

16. Carry something inspiring with you to read while waiting in line. (A corollary to this would be to always carry a book of mental games, i.e., sudoku, crosswords to keep your mind exercised when idle rather than engaging in useless mental chatter).

17. Get enough rest.

18. Eat right.

19. Get organized so everything has its place.

20. Listen to a recording while driving that can help improve your quality of life.

21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.

22. Every day, find time to be alone.

23. Having problems? Talk to the god within you, your higher self, right there and then. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and unload them.

24. Make friends with loving, open people.

25. Keep a folder of favorite uplifting quotations on hand.

26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you to the universe for blessings in life."

27. Laugh.

28. Laugh some more!

29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.

30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).

31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).

32. Sit on your ego.

33. Talk less; listen more.

34. Slow down.

35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.

36. Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. This way, you go to bed with your heart full.
