I have had the crazed idea lately of buying an above ground pool (12 feet round and 4 feet deep) and putting a big filter on it and introducing large native to my pond and feeding them. I live in Massachusetts and it gets really cold. But these fish would all be native to MA....This whole idea is very MFK of me, but I want to know if it would work!

Feedbacks apreciated!

Hello; You might ask someone with an above pool used for swimming to find out if they freeze soild in the winter. On another thread a member in a northern state found a recommendation for an in ground pond of six feet depth. As a guess only, it seems to me that an above ground pool will be much more likely to freeze as it is exposed on the sides as well as the surface. An inground pond is insulated on the sides by earth. Might cost a bit to heat.
