I want to build an avobe ground outdoor pond. i want it to be 8x4x3Hft. Basically i want to frame it and lay sleepers onall sides and pond liner it and thats all. i want to use a pond canister and some heaters. all natrual light(snails to kill algae. i just need help with the framing so if i could please get some diagrams and models that would be good or anytips on how to frame it up

I'm assuming that your about 25-40 years old. (guessing, normally a 16 year older wouldn't be able to do this)

Can you remember those old pools you could buy, the ones with the steal frame and the pool liner? My grandma has one and I want to steal it, iIreckon they'd be great. What are you going to house in this pond.

the problem is i dont wanna use plywood. id rather use sleepers

"Sleepers"... translation ..."wooden railroad ties"?

this is what I would do. Let me know what you think and I can email modify and email you the PDF's

I am not sure of the exact dimensions of the ties you have so I sketched this up using standard 6x8 dimensions. This orientation will give you pond interior of 8 ft by 4 ft. To drill the holes in the end I would make a template that way you are sure that they will align when you put it all together. You can use a router to make the square notch for the washers. The washers and holes should be square because you will not be able to put a wrench on the bottom nut while tightening the top. You can drop in your padding and liner and then trim the top to hold it in place and cover the holes.

This method will make it easy to disassemble if that need ever arises. You don’t need to keep a rectangular shape either, polygonal shapes like an octagon would be just as easy to construct and would be better for the fish because the corners wouldn’t be as tight.

I forgot to dimension the threaded rod, it should be 36 inches…..

Pixy blood- surprise surprise i am 15. i have been in the hobby for 6 months and have already spent 2500Au. i am interested in building a pond as to practise wood working skills(i would like to become a locksmith and they need to install locks). i am also building a pond as i intend to keep a jar and i would like to keep it in a 8ft house. without paying 1000AU just fer glass tank. and i also like the concept of over ground ponds. i also want to keep pbass.

Dr Joe- Sleepers as in planks of wood. actual hardwood planks. perferably 6x2's

IIT i cbf writing the rest- I really like the idea and although the cost would be extreme the pond is not framing and plywood/sleepers it is both incoorperated. i was actually thinking of doing your idea.
