I have a 19.5x40ft pond liner that I was going to use for a 30x7x4/5ft. The dirt where I live is very strong and has alot of rocks in it so its hard to dig.
I spent 15minutes to dig a 12"x12"x4" hole..... With water i sprayed all over just to get it moist.

Now I am thinking about just building an above ground pond, but with a bottom drain... Any ideas on how a above ground pond would work with a bottom drain....

Pond is approx 9k gallons but only going to fill 7k-7.5k.

I am not positive about wood holding this much water. I was thinking about brick walling but what about a bottom drain, is it possible? I drew a 30 second picture of what I thought might work. Have an extra foot below the pond but the ponds pressure would put the pond in pieces.

Having the pink part being the bottom drain. Does anyone here have or know someone with an above ground pond with a bottom drain thats efficient?

Need ideas, trying to finish it off before summer

Yea a true artist, started drawing with crayons since I was 5, now im 7 so thats 2 years in progress.

How much do cement blocks cost around each at a home depot

I was amazed it took you 30 seconds to draw that picture :ROFL:

Concrete blocks are $1.25 ea. here. Check a contractors supply in your area for quantity pricing (and they deliver).

Is this going to be on flat land or a hill?

What kind of filtration are you planning on using?

Bottom drains are great, (good circulation / prevents stratification), just keep the leaves out so it doesn't get clogged. There are also these http://www.aquaart.com/drain.html if you don't want to pierce the liner.

Well, It is on flat land(concrete flooring in backyard). In my backyard there is plain concrete then near the back theres alot of dirt thats really hard to dig. Planning on making the dirt in the back just concrete then use that part for the pond too.. Planning to actually make it 3/4ft deep instead and have it wider.

My 3" tetra bottom drain arrived just now and now I have all my supplies needed, beside the air pump thats being shipped.

My only choice is above ground because underground is too hard. Is there anyway to make it have a bottom drain?

I will be having a custom filtration tank and see how it works out. If it doesnt work out good I will be buying a pressurized filter along with it

My plan is for all the waste to go in the bottom drain then to a settling chamber. Then having a pump in the settling chamber go through a 36W sterilizer into a 55Gallon rubbermaid tank. Then water comes back around.

And then have another smaller pump run a waterfall
