ABS is illegal in my town

The stores in my town aren't allowed to sell ABS. It does not meet code. I can drive 5 miles and buy it. I have no idea why it can't be used in a drain application.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure all our household drains are abs... water lines are copper or maybe pex lately but I don't think pvc has been used in residential until recently, commercial probably longer. Not sure about all that but just trying to think back.

Ya all are drains are ABS but mains going to street are PVC. Our supply lines are copper and pex in new housing which is polyethylene.

ABS is illegal in a few states. I think it has something to do with a very old problem with the material way way back in the day. Very stupid as ABS has some great benefits and is absolutely harmless
