I've heard of people using abs plumbing for sumps and such, but can i use the pipe and glue inside a FW tank with no ill effects on my fish? If so, once its cured should i let it leach in water for awhile?

ive seen others do it but theres no way i would. abs pipe isnt rated for potable water and not worth the risk to me.

wow, didnt know that  ,....oh well, i used abs piping on my overflowbox-to-sump (all piping on the outside of tank)..with no ill effects at all to water or fish for the passed 9 monthes or so...i let it cure for 24hours, rinsed then used...i like the black color also ;)

It is in the USA

Actually, the schedule 40 PVC that everyone uses, is not rated for potable water. CPVC and schedule 80 are. I install lawn sprinklers, and the codes reqiure piping approved for potable water, since the water before the backfow can get into and contaminate the house water.
