AC 110 impeller shaft drilled a hole.

I got lucky. The filter was sucking air in from somewhere.
Upon investigation I unplugged it and then hear water dripping.
So it was sucking air in through the hole.
I’m thankful that it happened like this, if the power had stopped or it actually leaked it could have been a disaster!

When I unplugged it the shaft fell out through the hole. Craziest thing I’ve seen.
Just a one in a million that it didn’t leak and drain the 75 it was on.

I've never seen that happen before so nice catch!

If you were positive the original impeller shaft hole wasn't elongated due to the shaft rotating, a dab of silicone sealant or a bit of quick cure epoxy would work to seal that hole up on the bottom of the motor.

We had an AC110 metal shaft break off and couldn't reach it from the impeller cavity so removed the bottom cover on the motor and drilled a new hole smaller than the impeller shaft to pop out the broken shaft. We made sure the new shaft fit snugly and then used silicone sealant to plug the hole, it's been running this way for a couple years now.

I drilled the inside of the hole (on the inside of the motor but not all the way through) slightly larger to accommodate a new rubber end that fit very tight. The shaft cannot be spun any longer. The end piece actually seals up the hole with no leaks. I let it run for about an hour.
But I don’t trust it entirely so I’ve also added a blob of silicon on the inside and outside of the hole just letting it cure now.
It’s also dead silent now. I guess that little bit of noise was the shaft rubbing the inside of the bottom of the motor.
I just didn’t realize it.
