We had a storm last night, and the power surged. My AC70 stopped running and has not come back on since, does anyone know of any way to get it going again? Thanks in advance
when re-using my friends AC 70 it didnt work. i took the motor off the box, took the impeller out and rinsed it thoroughly, took a q tip to the inside of the motor where the metal piece that the impeller sits on, rinsed that out thoroughly and after i refilled it with water plugged it in and it ran fine! ive had this problem a few times before after letting a filter sit a while, im thinking its just from letting tiny particles settle around the impellor not allowing it to spin like it should if even at all. try that out if you havent already
I have had this happen and simply unplugging the filter for a few minutes, priming the filter and then plugging it back in fixed the problem. a filter has to work harder to start up even when primed, so it may be that your intake need to be cleaned. Its good to clean the entire impeller housing and the intake periodically as it can drastically reduce the flow rate of any filter. This has happened to me too, since the pump cannot get enough water into the impeller housing to start flowing water again
No need to take it apart, though I suggest breaking it down and cleaning it since the bacteria hasn't had oxygen for quite a while.
Anyway happens to me all the time - move the intake tube over towards the minus - insert the end of a thin plastic model paintbrush (new) or the like, and give the impeller a little spin - it should/typicaly get unstuck and start up again no problem - give the filter chamer a little fresh de-chloranized water and you're back to operating conditions.
It happens all the time. I wouldnt clean the whole filter out yet... The BB are probably still alive if they've stayed underwater. Just use the old paperclip or model paintbrush method to get the impeller spinning again. Wait a few days for the BB to fully recover, then pull the motor unit & clean the impeller well thoroughly.
sorry to here. i have two AC 110s. i'd be lost without them... mine are plugged into a power bar...hopefully the power bar would blow before the filters...
