I am having some serious issues with microbubbles and one of my ac110s. I own a fx5 and know that cleaning is the key, but I literally set this filter up three days ago. Anyone else experience this same problem?

How far is the drop from the HOB to the water? Mine usually creates some bubbles but it drops about a half inch. It could also be taking in air on the intake "U"

Make sure the u-tube is pushed all the way down & making good contact with the impeller housing. Other than that, check for cracks in the u-tube.

If the U tube is taking in air one way or another... this air should be released at the water-to-air interface inside the filter... and not flowing into the tank...

Therefore I am very confident the bubbles you are seeing are entering the water where the water spills out of the HOB and into the aquarium...

As mentioned, the farther the water drops from the HOB the more bubbles it will make.

The two ways that promptly comes to mind to remedy this is A) make sure your tank is topped off, & B) There is a little tab on the bottom of the AC in the back. You can use this tab to push the HOB unit away from the tank. This changes the angle that the water spills into the tank.

If you lost this tab (I've lost a bunch) you can also use a small block of wood or anything similar to hold the HOBs housing an inch or so away from the tank... This slight modification can make a big difference...

Thanks for all the replies, I now realized I should have explained better.

-Water is topped off to the max, always (usually) is
-bubbles are comming from where the water is spilling
-cleaned again (dont worry mad bb to spare) no help
-its only 2 of the three ac110s on the tank
-checked the u-tube connect and he said he was straight, but I will check again

Im leaning toward the u-tube crack/connection location. Suggestions on fixing?

I dont think its the intakes, I literally dont see anything in the form of a bubble or bubble like substance comming from the down flow of the ac's

I have an AC110 (great flow & suction power btw), fluval204 + sponge filter + airstone in 72gal BF. whether topped off or an inch lower I get lots of microbubs. I think it's that you have great water flow, with all that agitation from all 3 filters will I think, cause your tank water to be saturated with cumulative gases, namely the mixture of air. If you were to turn off one of your filters I think in a few hours you may see a reduction. if you turn of the 2 that is causing it, then you should see a reduction sooner. but I agree with NC it's not coming from within the filters nor u-tube or crack, as you can see it's in the spill. I don't think it's a prob. unless you have plants that need more CO2 cuz all those microbubs are diffusing it out quicker. good luck.

moved them to a different tank and no problems? I think it was the super oxygenated water mentioned above!
