I had to downgrade to a 20 gallon from my 60 gallon due to my parents nagging. So now I let my friend take care of my fish that were in the 60 and I have an empty 20 gallon with an AC110 that used to be on the 60. Would it be okay to stick like a bunch of fish in there since the filter is so strong or would that fail?

If the AC110 fits you might be able to have Hillstream Loaches and Cloud minnows otherwise look for small HIGH current fish
I would do some high current fish. Small plecos, mountain minnows, some loaches as mentioned, and the like. Tiger barbs might work, not 20 though, more like 10-13.

I had an AC110 on a 20g Long. I mainly used it as a grow out and hospital tank, so it was only temporary. I've had Dats, Polys, and a few other fish that were in there from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. It didn't seem that crazy. What you can also do is cut out a piece of egg crate to disrupt the flow so it's not as strong.
totally acceptable, if you do it right, i.e. manage flow. Having said that you need to maintain proper and reasonable stocking levels.
