I need to know the dimensions of the ac110 filter. Having possibly screwed up my tank stand build (its 3" to tall) I'm having a clearance issue with my emperor 400's. The tank is being placed against a wall and underneth a staircase on the floor above it. Because of this the wall goes up 58" before curving inwards at a 45 degree angle. The problem is once the filter is sitting on the back rim of the tank I wont be able to take it off again without moving the entire tank stand. There is two solutions to the problem non of which seem very appealing to me.

I could move the stand 9" out from the wall :irked:
or
have the filters on each end of the tank rather then the back side.

I'm hoping the ac110 filters are smaller then the emperors or else I'm really screwed. I know it's asking alot but could one of you ac110 owners measure your filter and get me some dimensions? Please and ty. :)

I've included a crude drawing showing the measurements I need.

hmmm that's no good. Looks like I'll have to put one filter on each end.

This is why it's important to think everything through before you start building something. :duh:

Wouldn't a canister filter solve that issue?Cost a bit more the power filters but...

True, but I really was hoping to use hob filters just for the higher turnover rate. Also that would cut into my already limited budget alot more then I'd like.

You need 4 1/2" of space between the tank and wall for an AC110.

The filter sits 2" above the tank rim, with 7 1/2" below (9 1/2" total).

The outflow extends 1 1/2" below the rim into the tank.

BTW - I wish people would read a post completely (and this poster took the time to make a nice drawing) before replying with useless information. Sorry had to vent; just a forum pet peeve of mine.

Here's some pics. A 125g will be going along the wall, not the smaller tanks you see underneath. Those are just temporary holding tanks for the fish I intend to put in the 125.

*looks like my dog is about to shoot lasers out her eyes! lol*

here's the problem. The filter will sit just about where i'm holding it. All I need is an extra inch or two just enough to lift it up and slide it out sideways if I ever need to remove it from the tank. chopping off a bit of the filter lip might give me that extra inch. But that'll be a last resort if I don't come up with anything else. :(
