So what do you guys think of just putting AC 110's on a 240gal , 8 foot tank ? Would this do ? Or should there be canister filters ? I'm thinking 4 AC 110's. I don't have the tank yet.. but thinking ahead . And looking for suggestions. Thanks

Depends on what you are going to stock the tank with.

If you are only going to keep smaller fish or a single large fish the ACs would do fine.

I can't answer your question, but it seems like doing maintenance/rinsing/replacing cartridges/etc on 4 HOBs would get old quick....something to consider.

Also, for the price of 4 AC110s you could probably get a really nice canister filter (i dont have any experience with canisters so I won't recommend a specific brand), plus maybe even have a little left over for a single AC110.

I run 2 Emperor 400s on 125g and have been for almost 5 years. I'm thinking about picking up an AC70 for a little extra filtration (I'd get an ac110 but with how close my tank is to the wall, and it being 6ft long, would make it a real pain in the ___ to remove a large HOB filter for maintenance (considering it would have to go in the middle area of tank)).

if u have the doe for 4 ac110s, u can afford a fx-5 which is one of the best canister filter out there.. i'd say just do fx-5 and your set...

I agree. And, it would kind of be a pain to have to keep up maintenance on 4 filters imo.

4 AC110z on a 240, I like it......Think about a DIY wet/dry filter....Forget about purchasing somemore canisters.....The DIY "wd" will run about $80 to make for a 240...Try going to Target ang looking for 30-40g drawer to be a sump....Get the 3 drawer setup there too....The pump will be the costly thing ranging from $60-100......But, yeah, stick to the AC110-o-rama.....

**Personally I have 2 AC110z running on a 125**
