Went to do my feeding on my 30 gallon with one 4 inch salvini and noticed the filter stopped. I have not liked the ac50 at all. Filter is under 1 year old. My tetra whisper did a better job and has lasted longer (3 years). I have never liked the flow either. Can I replace the motor with one from an ac70? Will it fit?

yes the motors are all the same up to ac70...funny that happened to you today .. ac's are known to last forever.. I just installed an ac110 yesterday (new out of the box)and when I got home from the library it was vibrating horribly, had to take it apart and re-seat the impeller ... its better now but it must have been an off day for aqua clear:) before you change filters ...try taking a pencil and moving the impeller while the filter is plugged in,sometimes this will fix the problem

Thats deffo not common with the AC I have two and they work a treat.

Remove the motor, then remove the impeller and the shaft and clean the space where the impeller fits perfectly well with some floss, also clean the impeller and the shaft with some cotton or filter floss, put some vaseline all over the shaft and then also on the impeller.

Put the shaft in its place then the impeller and get the motor in the filter get some water inside of it and try it to see if it works.

If it doesnt then for some uncommon reason your motor is damaged, you should get another one.

I run AC's on all of my tanks and they work and work and work. Try the pencil trick, the impellers do get stuck from time to time.

I figured this to be an oddball problem. its running again now. however i still think the flow is not as rated (with included media). thanks for the tips!

Just the impeller is bigger ...don't worry it won't overflow unless its tilted backwards (away from tank)....use the leveler to make sure that the back side of the filter is as hi or higher than front .then it cant overflow anyplace but into the tank....:)
