Which of you crenicichla-holics is coming to this this years convention?

Is there typically a better day to go to see more pikes?

Every day is good for pikes. There are generally quite a few entered into the show.

I wish I was going so I could see Vin Kutty's talk! I've had the opportunity to chat with him in person a couple of times and he is just an awesome guy!

Hey there Stone-Cutter!

most show fish will be in their tanks by tonite, judging is always Friday evening with results @ the banquet Saturday - - -
*MAY THE BEST FISH WIN* !!!! **

This is the first year in several we are not going. . . a 1700 mile road trip is just too far to be hauling our precious ShowFish! Air cargo is not an option with the Big Guys - too risky for irreplaceable prime specimens.

As many of you know, Dan Ye-Jennings has been a perennial contender specializing in central & south american cichlids, also some primo madagascar fish. We have won First Place in the crenicichla class seven years running. . . will be represented by some friends' entries this year, will see how they fare! - - - we'll miss seeing our cichlid friends this year, and all the incredible fish! It is always a great time at the ACA conventions, ENJOY !!! See you next year in INDY !

Hey there. I went by today, my first time at an ACA, people were very nice. Unfortunately without you there the pikes were slim pickin's--just one lugubris, one sax and one dwarf. Beautiful discus though and some other nice fish.

A male eh?

Out of curiousity, what sex are most of your show fish? Given that the females of a lot of species are more 'showy', I'm curious at the sexes of your show fish.

Correction - there were 4 Crenicichla entries !

Juan's Cr. sp. orinoco dwarf male won 1st in Class. We have a really nice brother in our tank.

Scott Arney's red-fin johanna was there, an atabapo II, and a lepidota.

Our ShowFish are both sexes - Crenicichla females are a little more 'showy' and out-going. Our male Tapajos I was an outstanding specimen, almost won Best of Show @ 2007 ACA Sacramento. So it all depends on the particular fish. A lot of our larger Central & South American cichlid Trophy winners are primo males. We have an incredible female H. temporalis with exotic finnage, and a super sweet psittacus sister. Some fish are special, we like to grow-out fish with potential and show the beauties to the world!
