Sunday is the only day I can make it what am I to expect? All I know is it is in Indianapolis, Indiana (2012) and the auction is on sunday at 10:30 and you may find any cichlid or you might not. My questions are (mind you I have never been to a convention)?

what time does it end (approx.)
what are the prices for the fish (compared to a LFS) this doesn't count include a bidding war
Are there different rooms and or auction for different cichlids (south american, central american or rift lake cichlids)

Sunday... except for the auction is tear down day for vendors and displays.
If it is well attended, the auction can go well into the night.
I believe quality of fish is very high and prices, can be/ are usually much lower than LFSs, especially toward the end. At times you will find fish you will find no where else.
At the Milwaukee ACA I bought a bag of 8 grammodes for $12.
If you're into Africans it is usually inundated with them.
The GCCA classic is similar to the ACA auction, I picked up a bag of bag of 6 bartoni for $3, a bag of 6 Crptoheros nanolueteus for $3 and more.
There can be a thousand bags, so be prepared to sit and wait. Bring a styro.
If you know of a vendor you want fish from call them in their hotel rooms, and reserve fish, they usually have bulletin boards with available lists.
You may see and talk to the who's who of cichlidome.
Beyond that, it can be fabulously entertaining, educational and a blast.

Really looking forward to picking up some nice Grammodes or Argentea.

I'll be there Thursday night taking first dibs!

Is it 1 big auction or many small auction (different rooms for different cichlids) also how do you keep the fish alive in the bag, if the fish are bagged at 10:30am and they aren't sold until 3pm wont they die (sorry for the noob question)

It's one massive auction, I've been going to fish auctions for over 25 years and never had but 1 or 2 die in the bag. Most people know how to pack, in fact if done right a fish can last 2 or 3 days in a bag with a few water changes, and I've done that in rest rooms at auctions when a fish looked sketchy. When shipped, 24 hours is the norm. I usually bring a battery operated air pump or 2 and some buckets for anything with over a 2 hour drivem and for bigger fish. And the lunkers are usually sold in buckets.
