Can they only be acara? I have Krobia. 
One of the vendors here sold me some Aequidens metae. The problem is that they were not metae, but plain brown ports.
I got them at about 1.5" and they were solid black and looked near death. I euthanized the two worst ones and kept the other four. They're all 3 - 4" now. When I came home today, one had turned dark and was attacking tankmates. On closer inspection, she has a flowerpot COVERED in eggs. I can't believe that little fish laid all those eggs.
I didn't plan to keep them, but I have such a soft spot for acara-type cichlids that I've now made room for them to stay.
