my acara has a minor case of ich but this will onviouisly turn into a major case if i dont do something. what should i do to get rid of the ich? im pretty tight on cash right now..

Get temp up to 86, and add salt. Add 1 Tbs per 5 gallons, and up to 1 per gallon. It will be fine.

I agree. 3 Tbsp per gallon would be good IMO.

Make sure you use aquarium salt.

Is this 3 tablespoons or teaspoons, Angler? 3 tablespoons per gallon is too much. Teaspoons though (heap, not leveled) should be fine.

I did mean 3 tablespoons. I many times treated all types of fish with 84 degrees and 4 tablespoons per gallon. I never lost a fish and cleared the ich quickly.

I am not saying this much salt is not overkill, because it may be, but I never lost a fish with this much salt.

ive heard plecos are intolerant of salt, is this true? ive got 3, so it could be an issue...

Depends on the plecos. Commons can usually handle it, but the fancy plecos don't do well with it at all.

You have to remember dissolution and careful dosing are all it takes to prevent any issues as much as possible.:)
