Hi i have 1 male Acarichthys heckelii with some Satanoperca daemon and was wondering if i add 2 females heckelii females would that upset the tank and the male heckelii take over the tank?

How big is the tank? and how many is 'some'?
If there is room, I wouldn't think it extremely likely. (insert the usual 'you never know' disclaimer here)

What is the fish in your AV?

Without more information about your tank I would say there is always a possiblity of having problems. If you add in a female or more you are at a high likelihood of ending up with a pair. Pairs in a community tank can always cause problems. But if you have the tank space then it could work out. I have never heard of heckelii as being extremely territorial or aggressive during breeding but they are cichlids, so a lot depends on the individual fish involved.

I would say ur fine. it shouldnt cause problems. btw where did u get ur daemon ive been looking for them forever.

I guess I'll be the minority here and say that I think Acarichthys heckelii are on the aggressive side (male/female group) to be kept with any of the Satanoperca species.

Everything I've read about heckelii, and my own fairly minimal experience with them, has led me to understand that they are pretty peaceful with other species, although they can stick up for themselves if threatened (within reason). However, once adult, they can be VERY rough with each other, especially when breeding .
I would be very cautious about adding any other heckelii into a tank with an established singleton.
However, keeping a singleton with Satanopercas I am sure would be absolutely fine (as you seem to have discovered !).

I have a group of 6 daemon and 6 heckelii growing out in a 6' 150. I got them at about 2" and they've almost doubled in size since the summer!

Can't wait for them to put on a bit more size. Hopefully, they'll behave. :)
