Having a bad night here, I just picked up a few polys, an endli, a weeksi, and a lapradei, from my lfs. The owner threw in an oscar that needed a good home. I went through the usual steps, water change, feeding the fish and re-arranging the tank before I put the new guys in, but unfortunately my current oscar flipped out and decided he wanted to take out the new Oscar. I tried to break up the tank again by moving stuff around, still no luck. Unfortunately I only have one, 180 gall tank, so I eventually decided to seperate the big oscar from everyone else, in order to put up a divider. A buddy was handling the divider while I moved the fish, and then I did a quick headcount. I saw all 4 polys(i had a sen already) on the right side of the tank, and finally got the big guy by himself, but somehow the lap snuck back through the divider and hid behind a big terra cotta pot. I did a quick check on the other side of the tank, but neither my friend nor I noticed the little guy hiding on the wrong side of the tank, and when I went to move the big pot around he ended up getting stuck underneath it. He looks fine, with the exception of his eye, which is red, bloody and has something white in it. I can't get a good enough look at him to figure out if it's sand, or something that popped in his eye, or what. I desperately need some advice, my first thought was to go get some melafix/pimafix/standard antibiotics, but all the stores are closed. is there anything i can do for this little guy to try and make sure he makes it through the night, assuming this is just his eye, so that this can be dealt with properly when I can get some supplies, and maybe a hospital tank? Please help, I'm not really sure exactly what I'm supposed to do in a situation like this.

Since all the stores are closed, I'd put him with the safe side and hope for the best. Unless you have any meds in which case QT him and treat as necessary

Alright, thanks man. He's moving around still, but hes breathing pretty hard and his eye certainly isn't getting any better. The waiting game it is I guess. Damn.

I tried to snag pic a couple times, but he's not exactly cooperating, and the camera Ihave at my disposal can't get a good enough pic to really see the problem. I have him in a quarantine tank right now with melafix as a prophylactic. I have tetracycline on standby in case that fails and something develops. I can't be %100 sure, but I think he does in fact have a piece of sand in there, and his eye seems to be pushing it out. The good news is that, for now at least, that eye follows my finger when he can't otherwise see me, and there are no secondary issues. hopefully if it is sand he will expel it himself, and he might even still have use of his eye. I'm cautiously optimistic about the eye, but at this point it seems that this isnt going to be fatal. I've only been dealing with poly's for a few weeks, and I knew they liked to hide, and be a little sneaky at times, but I didn't think i wouldn't have noticed the little guy. Certainly won't be moving anything in that tank without a spotter anymore. I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow, and keep updating about this condition.
