I'm looking to get a couple babies in the next few weeks. Friend of mine just called and said he say them out and about. My question is, how do I acclimate them for my tank? I keep several Peacock bass and have a 55g that will be for the LMB till their ready to go into the main tank. Whats the best way to go about doing this? Thanks in advance.

Acclimate them the good ol' fasion way.

Put them in a bucket in their water, and every 5-10 minutes throw 1 cup of the aquarium water into their bucket and wait another 5-10 minutes and do the same thing again. After about a half hour dump some of the bucket water into the toilet or sink or whatever and repeat the process until the bucket water is like 90 % aquarium water and then it should be same to transport them directly into the tank.

This method has not failed me as of yet.....Drip method is nice but LONG.......

Your choice....Best of luck on the new children!

honestly i just put mine straight into the tank. im sure taht if something happened to him it would be because there wasnt enough motor oil or some other chemical in the water. i live neer all the nasty refieries. fyi mines is from a gross ditch.

or if you don't have a bucket, put the bag right in the tank, then do the same thing. I find this one easier, and they stay the exact temp of the tank.
... depending on what the temp is though, you may want to take it very slow if it's more than 10 or 15 degrees off from your tank.

I agree with Jase.

Bass don't need any special treatment, just do it like you would do any other fish. As long as the temperatures aren't way off there's nothing to worry about.
Actually I've acclimated sunfish and bass from winter temps to my own tanks (which weren't at tropical temps at the time, but still around 70), with no issues, I just floated the bags with a digital thermometer in them until the temperatures were the same.
