I am looking to buy a group of 10-20 mangrove seeds for a tank that will eventually be converted to a brackish water habitat. For now it is fresh and will remain as such for at least 6 months. The goal is to have the mangroves well established and rooted before beginning to slowly raise the salinity. My understanding is that just about all commercially avilable mangroves are raised in either full salt or at least brackish water. I also know that these plants don't react well to quick changes. On the other hand, mangroves can grow in full fresh... The question is: how do I acclimate the seeds to freshwater? Please advise

Mangroves can easily be converted to any kind of water. All that happens is the original leaves will probably fall off and the bud will then sprout new leaves. I put mine from straight salt water to straight fresh (was doing the same thing you are because I then started converting to brackish) and had great results. Mangroves are extremely hardy and resilient.
