Is drip acclimation the best way to acclimate or is there another way? Also if i was getting a couple damsels and a couple snails would i be able to put them in the same bucket to do the acclimation or should i get a different one for snails and one for the damsels?

to the first question its debatable. some say the process of slow aclimation is bad for the fish because depending on the amount of time the fish spent in the bag there could be lots of ammonia in it. even tho the fish seems fine in the bag, it may get sick in the bucket.

the thing is the ph in the bag is very low and converts ammonia to ammonium. ammonium isnt toxic like ammonia. when you add new water to the bucket of higher ph or the ph raises from oxygen exposure the ammonium turns back into ammonia and poisons the fish.

the damsels and snails are fine, but some other inverts release toxins like cucumbers or anemones those would be bad to aclimate with other animals

Slow drip acclimation is the best way, in my opinion...would be fine to drip the fish and the snails together...In general terms though, if you purchase fish and inverts together, ensure that the fish you buy are not invert predators if you want too acclimate them together...

I will probably do this. These will be the first in my tank im pretty excited even though damsels arent much but im happy to have something in it now. I will post some pics after a week or so if you would like?

Also are snails sensitive to high nitrite and nitrate levels? My levels are a little high right now but hopefully i will get them down.

Would not add any snails untill your nitites are zero...Nitrate wise, snails are pretty hardy and can happily live in 40ppm nitrates. Personaly, tested them in 90 - 100ppm nitrates and they were fine, but that was just a personal experiement and would not recomend it.

most snails and hermits are pretty much almost impossible to kill as far as inverts are concerned. i would wait until your ammonia and nitrite are zero.

A 1/4 tsp of Amquel+ or Prime will detoxify any ammonia in the bag of water the fish comes in. Need to supply air via an airstone.
Don't use an airstone without first adding Amquel+.

I got them!!!!! Right now they are an hour into drip aclimating. The snails are looking good but the damsels are kinda getting darker. They are the 3 stripe damsels. Idk if thats the right name but thats what it said on the tank at my lfs and i found that on a website. But is it normal that the white is getting darker? Will they eventually get the nice white back on them?
