I am confused on what to do for acclimating. I have read that the drip method is best, but I have also read that the drip method will raise the levels of the ammonia which is more deadly to the fish than the difference in water parameters.

So far I have had good luck with adding amquel and novaqua when I open the bag that the fish was shipped in, then I net the fish and put it in the tank.

I am getting a few more fish today, one of them being a Plagiostoma Eel. I am concerned about acclimating the eel mostly.

Im not exactly sure what your asking, but when i acclimate my fish, i let them sit in there bags in the tank for about 15 to 20 minutes, then i dump out most but not all of the water out of the bag and refill the bag with water from the tank im gonna put them into, then i let them sit in there bags again for about 10 more minutes. This way they acclimated to more then just the temp, it works great for me

This is what I've read raises the levels of ammonia, which is more toxic to the fish than just adding them to the aquarium and letting them adjust to the temp/ph difference.

I guess I didnt phrase my question very well. I am just confused on which acclimation method is best. You have side A saying their method is best and then side B saying their method is best.

If the fish is wc or has been shipped (or is generally weak from spending some time in transit), I'd drip acclimate it, never heard any negative effects of that.

Most of the store bought fish I acclimate by simply floating the bag for about 10 mins and then adding small amounts of tank water every 4-5 minutes for about 20 mins, then I release the fish into the tank.

And that is exactly what you are going to have all the time. On this site you will find tons of mixed opinions, cause that's what they are opinions. Some are just more experienced. You have to find the method that you feel the most comfortable with and go with it.

I like to float the bags for 15/20 mins, then net/grab the fish and put them in the tank(quarantine).

That thread it pretty much summed it up.

The package came a a few hours ago. I put the eel and fish in buckets with the bag water, added amquel and novaqua and slowly added tank water until the water in the bucket was mostly tank water. I have them in the main tank now (I know I should quarantine but I don't have an extra tank or room for one right now.) and they appear to be doing well.
