Hi i have a 55g tank setup with 12 young acei and 2 demasoni one of the demasoni is a adult male the othet is a young male. The demasoni chases the acei around n keeps the in one corner but doesnt hurt them. I was wondering if the acei will defend them selfs as they grow. Or should i get rid of the demasoni and add a few yellows or albino socolofi

If they make it to adulthood they will be fine, but I doubt they will. Also, 12 acei in a 55 gallon is ridiculous. Be prepared to get rid of 6-9 of them.

The good thing with africans is, you can overstock your tank with them. Overstocking also lessens aggression. But I do agree that 12 acei is a little too much for a 55g. Getting rid of 6-9 of them though? Thats too much...

I think if the OP does a lot of water changes and always keeps the tank pristine, he/she has nothing to worry about

IME regardless of the number of Acei you keep, i think the bigger problem is the number of Demasoni. Either get rid of them altogether or increase their number, preferably 1 male for around 4-5 females.

I keep 8 acei in a 135 with 9 yellow labs, 8 demasoni, and 4 rusties with no conspecific aggression at all. Lots of rock and lots of females to every male helps a ton.

I got 12 acei because they was part of a trade ima add a few to my peacock tank when they grow more. I had a group of 12 demasoni breed them for awhile but my main holding females died n the males started fighting. The demasoni dont bother the acei to much just chases them some and trys to keep them on one side of the tank

Acie seem to get along with all Africans. I have 5 in a 150gal with 4 white labs, 6 rustys, 2 red jewels, 1 kadango (the male and other female where jumpers) and a 5" green terror ( he is in their because he is overly passive). I have had Venustus, Electric blue Ahli and mainganos, yellow labs, numerous peacocks and Bumble bee cichlids with my Acie.
