CHARACINAE SUB-FAMILY: Acestrorhynchus sp. [Freshwater Barracuda]

I just thought I would post the difference. Definitely in my list for the future, looking forward and owners of Acestrorhynchus sp. please share your experience, pictures and any info on them!

I think I've got it wrong, YOULOOKLIKEFISH's big one is Altus, not Falcatus. I see him online, let's see what he says. So there are many species, I am coming across some pictures that I will post in awhile.

one thing I was able to gather, notice the difference of anal fins Link Here maybe a sex characteristic but i was told by the location i purchased from it's species guianensis. but yeah anyone please feel free to prove me wrong, with facts please not just "it looks like that picture!" I just downloaded all your vids, watched two, will watch the rest after this. Falcatus Barracuda seems to have a reddish dorsal fin, while Altus does not. Do you have Hujetas in there? Your Red Tails seem to vary in having red dorsal fin and not having, the dorsal is red although not intense and the big ones do not seem to have it..besides the snout looks different too,..which I believe are the Altus. The smaller, Falcatus...or as you said, Guianensis?? I am not sure about this name.

Another difference I see between Falcatus and Altus is that Falcatus has complete red tail with black spot, while Altus has normal silver coloured tail with red spot and upon the red spot is the black. Look at the pictures above, you'll see it. I could be wrong, it could be individual characteristics, hope someone can clear this up.

yes those are hujeta's in there with them. in my experience they obtain richer colors with age. the videos arn't the best at observing their coloration.
