Hi guys and gals, im being given a Achara catfish for my 7' x 2' x 3' 250gal tank. im wondering whether this catfish species will be ok with clown loach, birches and eels?

As long as they won't fit in his mouth.

my lfs has a 22" achara in a 7'x2'x2' tank and it has been there for a few years with 4-8 inch clown loaches, 18" fire eel, 4" four line pim, and 10" senegal bichirs. as long as you keep it well fed you should be fine. like people say, achara's are more of scavenger catfish and not predator catfish like rtc or tsn.

Started building the tank yet?

Buying the bricks for stand now! and filters and heaters have been ordered in to shop. The glass is on stand by but I want the stand done first before the glass comes home.
Unfortunately, my grandad passed away Sunday 26th may 2013 (R.I.P Pops! :( )
So the stand build has taken a back seat to the funeral and care of my grandmother.

It is always a gamble with any catfish. If a tankmate fits well in their mouth, it can be in danger. However, acharas are 99.9% scavengers, not hunters. So it's a safe bet. It is good to still be aware of that 0.1%. A lot depends on circumstances too. I have seen trade-in Leiarius marmoratus and L. pictus eat goldfish at LFSs like The Fish Place Tonawanda/Buffalo, NY but then this was all the food they were offered.
