I'm hoping that you all can help me with my first and new tank (new to me that is...)
It is a 75g tank. Sides are acrylic, bottom is tempered glass. It has silicone applied in the corners. Several of the corners look to be factory applied, while a few have had silicone added by someone who obviously had no business with a caulking gun.... When I bought the tank, it was full of water. I am assuming that the poor silicone was added right before the previous owner decided to sell it. I am also assuming that it was added because it was leaking. I want to remove the sloppy silicone and strengthen and seal the corners. Here is my idea -
1. remove as much silicone as possible by pulling it off after using a razor blade, cutting into the corners but not scraping it on the flat surfaces.
2. cleaning the corners with something?????
3. gluing triangle shaped acrylic rod into the vertical corners with some type of acrylic adhesive???
4. re-applying silicone to the bottom corners.

OK, that's all I got....let er' fly.....Thanks....:)

I'm not aware of any manufactured tanks that combine acrylic and glass as the structure. Do you know who made the tank?
