acrylic aquarium cover

hi, I was wondering if it's ok to use a peice of acrylic(1/8") as and aquarium cover with a flouresent light on top? thanks in advance!

it will bow a ton, even 3/8" will bow. use glass.

I wish we could use acrylic for tops but the will start to sag in time. Use glass. It's more expensive and heavy but at least you can clean off the algae scum that grows under it from the lighting without worrying about scratching the glass. The Doctor.

as stated above, the acrylic will bow. It's not suitable for a lid unless it's thick.
